TRAINING FOR TEACHERS 

Our unique courses focus on developing technical and pedagogical skills while providing teachers with the knowledge that makes them confident in different fields of digitalization.  

Teachers learn :

 

  • how to use 3D printers 

  • how to program microcontrollers 

  • how to use digital prototyping and design software  

  • how to approach students as equal partners 

They are introduced to story driven education to be able to teach the use of machines and pass on knowledge in a playful way. Technology is never an end in itself. It’s there to help education and smooth the way for learning regular school subjects. 

The essence of maker education is blending new technologies with a novel pedagogic method. It inspires and drives teachers to make use of the latest digital tools and seek opportunities for continuous growth both for themselves and for their environment. It is very important that teachers taking part in our trainings will not only obtain useful and relevant knowledge but become strongly motivated and will in turn be able to engage and inspire their own students.  

The 4 courses of our teacher training build on each other. The fields of expertise are expanded on gradually, while the acquired knowledge is broadening both in theory and practice. Completing the courses prepares for teaching independently in a makerspace environment.

THE 3 BASIC TOOLS OF MAKER EDUCATION 

For an educational makerspace to work in a successful and sustainable way, there are several things to take into consideration. These three are essential to optimal operation: 

  • Proper technological background 

  • Well trained teachers (4x60 hours of training) 

  • Maker curriculum 

We recommend our trainings for every teacher at all levels of education regardless of their field. They can prove to be useful for a humanities teacher, or a technology teacher specialized in CNC milling. This also applies to acquiring a basic knowledge of the areas of digital fabrication, educational technologies and pedagogical methodology integral to maker education.

1. Introduction to the methodology of maker education, digital tools applied in educational makerspaces 

60 hours of training  

The objective of this introductory course is to convey the maker attitude and its methodology that is infused with creativity. While we are getting acquainted with the theory, we create situations where teachers can be introduced to the use of design software and digital machinery.
